Volsung Tribe Campfire

Those of you who have been playing DAOC would have seen me about albeit for the last 10 days or so, and the reason is as follows;

About 10 days ago my brother in law (whos 28 ) came home from a day of skydiving and had a shower, whilst in the shower he had a massive anurism (bursting of one of the arteries in the brain). So i chucked jodi on a plane and waited, 36 hrs later he had 3 strokes from blood clots in his knoggen (head). So i grabed Dane and we drove to brisvegas about 1300 odd Km and 12 hrs or so.

That is why i havent been on. He is currently under extreme sedation and induced coma so that his brain pressure is lowered, to the degree that they have paralised him to stop any movement at all. He has been on life support for about 8 days.

Tomorrow is crunch day with only Tyrone being able to make the decision if he is to live, die or be a pumpkin for the rest of his life.

If your religious pray for him, if not (like me) cross your fingers and hope. He has massive ammounts of swelling in the brain and only time will tell.

I will get back on when we know more, sorry to lay this on you guys but your family and i need to get it out.

Being as defiant and tenatious as he is my brother inlaw has amased and bewildered doctors in the ICU and Nerology departments.

Yesterday he has come off sedation medication and is coming round, he is tracking people in the cubical, raising his eyebrows and moving his hands, much of which is unexpected but very welcome.

It shows that someones home and that he isnt necessaceraly going to be a pumpkin.

This is all on a razors edge tho cause at any time if the currently clotted anurism bursts its good night Irene.

We are off to see him today and if all continues to improve in the next 24 hrs Jodi and i will be returning home. Thanks for your support.

Thanks bud but both my and Jodi's family are in or around brisbane so we were good for accomidation.

Well after a stressful 14 days or so we are back home arrived back after a 13 hr drive weeeeee. might even play a bit tonight god knows i am that wired from all the coffee and red bulls.....

Jodi's lil bro is scheduled in for an op on wednesday at lunch.

He further amazes the medical staff and is using his arms and speaking fluently with only some gibberish. (drugs apprantly cause this)

So he is still critical but stable, only critical because any movment could dislodge the big ole blood clot that is currently sitting where the burst artery is.....

He has been moved to Neuro/Surgical ward rather then ICU and he has been taken off all tubes and ventalation.

Hopefully the op will fix him up and he will be right as rain.... well as well as he can be anyway. Although at this stage he is remarkably in tune with his surrounds the reason he is there. At this stage although he has had massive ammounts of head trauma and swelling it looks that he will recover with minimal deficenties.

Just think a week ago we were about to plan a funeral.

Good to hear he's bouncing back so well, sounds like he's a pretty healthy and active guy, so that should make his chances a ton better for a complete recovery.

So the latest installment.

He was booked in for the op to get his anuerism (finally spelt it right) coiled (smart term for plugged) however they cant do it at the hospital that he is in and have to move him to the one on the other side of town.

They need an icu bed after his operation so that he can be monitored constantly. Therein lies a problem. Due to our ailing medical resources here in Queensland there are no spare ICU beds at that hospital, so we wait, wait for a spare bed, wait for someone to get well or die......

Not nice at all i hope its the former. If by monday he cant get into the Royal Brisbane Hospital they will Crack his head and clamp the artery, this is far more evasive then the coiling option where they run a wire up through your groin to your anuerism.

Fingers crossed to have a bed become available.
