Urgon posted a thread in the EQ section.

If EQ goes PvP..and it sounds very much like the original merdian 59 PvP, which was the grand daddy of PvP. I will leave DAoC.

I will not for a moment believe that they will not nerf based on PVP. No matter what they say. EQ is just as bad as DAoC, when it comes to that.

I have a feeling PvP in EQ2 will be just as unbalanced and crappy as EQs PvP system was. Caster classes will reign supreme and melee wont stand a chance. Nukers will toast you from 500 yards out. Druids will kite you around making you feel silly, and melee classes will run around wishing they had a way to do anything at all.

Hmmm now that you mention it... Yes I believe they are pretty much the same. Hmmmm no wait Necros in DAoC were only good at PvE and not end game PvP.

I have no idea how EQ2's PvP system will feel, but I would point out that EQ2 is a completely different gaming experience than EQ1 ever was. These games were really built by 2 different development groups with 2 very different philosophies, and it shows. In just about everything they do.

Perhaps, some of you will disagree, but I played EQ1 for 3 years, and I finished 1 year so far on EQ2. The way in which the developers approach the community, updates, patches, etc. is very very different. Night & Day.

Anyway, I hope it will be fun & interesting, and I certainly hope to see some of you online inEQ2 when that happens. It would be really go to roam the wilds with you lads & lasses again!

Cheers mates,

Specifically, I was noting that the developer's philosophy & approach to the community was as different as night & day. Where EQ1 received infrequent game system fixes, updates & new features, EQ2 has received tons. EQ1 developers were reluctent to give any benefit to the player... Their approach was to make things tougher, longer, more work, in order to slow down the leveling advancement of the few hardcore players. That made the medium to light players suffer. EQ2 has consistently looked for ways to improve the play experience by making gaming systems more fun & enjoyable. They are constantly making changes & adding features that enhance the play experience. They give to the players, even if it means that it makes the game easier for them.

I also happen to think that the gameplay in EQ2 is night-and-day better than EQ1, at least for the more casual game player. While I have nothing against the hardcore, and I used to be hardcore, I am really thankfull to find games that don't cater to one, at the detriment of the other.

Just my humble opines. :)
